According to raw data from the Epidemiological Reporting System EMS, well over 20,000 new Corona infections were added within 24 hours on Friday.
At 8:00 a.m., 28,582 cases were reported, but this figure has not been adjusted for any errors. The previous day, for the first time since the start of the pandemic, no final data had been published. The Ministry of Health had referred to delays due to the high number of cases and the complexity of the evaluation.
According to EMS data, 25,592 new infections had been reported from Wednesday to (yesterday) Thursday. Continuing problems with the data cleaning are also to be expected in the coming days, it was said the day before from the office of Health Minister Wolfgang Mückstein (Greens). However, all reporting systems – including the EMS – would run unrestricted and without disruptions.
Corona figures are raw data
The figures published in the EMS are still raw data. The more reliable, because adjusted for infection reports of the crisis team of government and federal states are now no longer available since Wednesday for the time being. On average over the last seven days, the infection figures reported in the EMS were a good 900 cases higher than in the crisis team’s report. The largest deviation occurred on Wednesday, when the EMS morning report contained 31,070 new infections; in the adjusted figures, it was then 27,677 – the official daily high in Austria since the beginning of the pandemic.
Corona new infections in Vienna
According to the unadjusted EMS report as of 8 a.m. Friday, 7,626 of the nearly 29,000 cases occurred in Vienna. There were 4,896 reported infections from Upper Austria, 4,165 from Lower Austria and 3,377 from Tyrol. Also without data adjustment, 2,888 infections were added in Styria, 2,471 in Salzburg, 1,412 in Carinthia, 1,123 in Vorarlberg and 624 in Burgenland. The usual daily case numbers on hospitalizations and deaths from the crisis team were also not yet available by midday Friday.
Over 38,000 Corona vaccinations on Thursday.
However, the Ministry of Social Affairs’ vaccination dashboard was working: 38,200 vaccinations were carried out on Thursday, according to the report. Of these, 4,396 were first-time vaccinations on the day of the decision to make vaccinations mandatory, or 11.5 percent. In total, 30,216 first-time vaccinations were carried out within the past seven days. The majority were the 27,150 third stings on the previous day, accounting for 71.1 percent of the total. 6.43 million people in Austria, or 72 percent of the population, have valid vaccination protection.
